Nearby Medway Magistrates Court held a trial alongside researchers at Canterbury Christ Church University that saw a therapy dog used to assess whether they can help defendants and witnesses. 'Her presence helped keep the victim calm and Luna was a welcome distraction before and after giving such painful evidence.'Īngelina has been volunteering her dog's therapy services at Kent Police since November and Luna is one of 12 dogs used by the force to help vulnerable people during interviews and after being victims of serious crime.īut this was the first time that Luna had supported anyone inside court and the first time the force had used a therapy dog in court. 'She was there when she put her hand out for a cuddle, when things were getting tough, and in exchange enjoyed a biscuit or two. 'She spent time with the victim during her visit to the court as part of a six-week trial. I'm so happy to share that love with those who need it the most.
